I did a thing!

Late last year, I was asked by one of the pastors at my church if I would share my testimony as part of a message where it would be an essential part of it.  I said I would think about it as it involves domestic abuse trauma from my past that I'm still working through.

Once I had decided to share it, I then worked on what I wanted to say for a few weeks, by the time it was ready along with the main message, the UK was back in its second national lockdown.  Which meant that I would only need to record it for the online message and not need to share it in church personally.

I was very nervous about recording it as I'd not done anything like this before and while I was speaking I was feeling triggered in places.  It took me a few attempts but I managed to get a version that I was happy sharing.

Even though It was difficult to do, I'm grateful that I was asked and that I managed to record it as it's definitely a very important part of my healing that I did in 2020 and I think that it needed to be shared, so it can help others.

Almost as soon as I knew I was going to record it, I made the decision to share it as an IGTV meanwhile I also kept having internal nudges to put it onto YouTube.  The latter one I had to sit with for a while as it would involve a bit more work on my part.  I would need to record an introduction and outro to it, as well as adding a trigger warning screen at least to help it make a bit more sense.

I decided to also make some channel art, which is the same as the art for this blog, a name title screen, I created a like, subscribe and notification graphic with sound effects as well as an outro screen and music.  It took me a few days to edit it all together as I'm new to editing videos, I use iMovie as it comes free with my MacBook Pro but I managed to do it and really enjoyed the process.

While I was receiving the YouTube channel nudges last year, I also had nudges to do other videos, to recreate some blog and Instagram posts as videos.

It's all very early days but I'm excited about this journey as I really enjoy the editing part.  I'm really not very comfortable talking to the camera yet, and my editing needs practice, but both of those will come with time.

As I said earlier I'm planning more videos, so if you'd like to see more, please subscribe to my channel, and if you have any suggestions for future video's please comment below.
