I Had A Birthday!
On Friday it was my birthday. I'm not one to be the centre of attention so don't really do big parties or gatherings for it. One time a few years ago a couple of my friends threw me a small three-person (including me) birthday celebration which they did about two weeks before my birthday and they made me believe it was just going to be an afternoon of catching up. Very sneaky but it was unbelievably nice of them to do that.
For many years I have booked my birthday off from work as it's my day and so like to spend it with either friends or family and spend it doing things I want to do. I usually head to my mums for lunch and cards and gifts from her and my brother. I don't get many cards in this day and age of social media and most of my birthday wishes are wished to me via Facebook and texts.
Because I have been single for the last few years I have tended to buy myself a couple of gifts for Christmas and my birthday. It's a way to treat and reward myself for things that I have accomplished and goals that I have reached. It's usually things that I know that my friends and family wouldn't get me. This year I haven't done that as I have recently treated myself to a MacBook as my laptop was about five or six years old and was getting a bit slow.
I spent my birthday with my mum and brother. We had pizza and garlic bread for lunch with some of my cake for afters. I have cut the remainder of the cake into slices and frozen it in portions so it won't go off before I can eat it. It can dry out so it'll have to be eaten over the next few months.
I had a really nice day spent with some of those I care about. What's better than that?
