My July Week Off
I have been off work this week just taking some of my holiday days and what a week it's been! The weekend before my mum texts me to say that she had damaged some ligaments in her foot and so I offered to go up and help her for a couple of mornings. I was going to head up and have lunch with her one day as it was but now I was needing to help her out as well which is fine.
Monday I did fun things of emptying the maiden and putting a new load of washing on it, I finished looking through this year's journals for any nuggets of insights I've had so far, I watched a few YouTube videos as I'm behind on some of the channels I'm subscribed to and I also started on my room clear out again.
I'd had to stop clearing out my room last year when work was getting busier in the lead up to Christmas and then I got tennis elbow in November but I didn't go to the doctors with it until January. Six months is the minimum recovery time, the average is a year and the maximum is two years. As my elbow is feeling pretty strong again, although it's not 100% I am able to lift and carry things now for short periods of time so I decided to continue on my room clear out.
Therefore Monday afternoon was spent;
throwing out the rubbish in my room
sorting out the recycling in my room
clearing behind my bedroom door
clearing the bags in front of my wardrobe
hovering some of the floors
I still need to do; the top of my wardrobe, under my bed, next to the wall and have another look at all my clothes to see what else I can get rid of. If you follow me on my Instagram, you may remember last year when I got rid of six black bin liners full of clothes!! I had The British Heart Foundation do two collections last year and I'll get them to collect this next one as well.
For some reason, the first few nights this week I was having the most epically long sleep; Saturday night was 8h 39 min, Sunday night 8h 16 min, Monday night 8h 34 min, Tuesday night 7h 34min, and Wednesday night was only 6h 58 min. Even last week I was having an average of 7h 46 compared to about 7 1/2 hours the week before that. My average sleep this week is almost 8 hours!! I obviously needed the rest.
Anyway, I digress as my sleeping habits is a whole other post I am planning to write soon. On Tuesday morning I overslept as I had over 8 1/2 sleep so, as I was late getting up I got to my mums later than I had planned at just after 10 am. At mums I did a load of washing and put it out on the line for her, I put the breakfast pots away, I washed the bathroom as well hovering it and the landing. I made her lunch and then I washed up for her as well. We had a few good chats in-between all this as well.
Wednesday I didn't sleep in and as I was up and I was at mums for around 9.15. I did another load for her and put it on the line, I put the breakfast pots away and I dusted and hovered downstairs. I needed to do a food shop for myself so I left before lunch to do that on my way home. In the afternoon I sorted through some of my clothes and my bedside table.
On Thursday I was revelling in the knowledge that I didn't need to leave the house and I could have a relatively easy day. In the morning I spent three hours finishing sorting out my clothes and I now have two black bags of clothes to donate. After lunch I was feeling out of sorts, I couldn't put my finger on what was up with me and I still can't. I started to feel a bit tired so I led on the sofa for a bit and ended up having a nap for about an hour and a half!
Friday was spent sorting out the boxes of donations in the garage so I know where they are after my housemate sorted the garage out a few months back. Two of these boxes are from last year before I hurt my elbow and hadn't got them collected. It was a wet and dreary day today and as I was waiting for a delivery and I'd had a busy few mornings out the houses well and clearing a lot of my room, I wasn't intending on going anywhere this day.
My landlord came round after lunch to get rid of our old sofas. He'd given us his old ones recently as he was getting new ones because his wife wanted a change. As there was nothing wrong with his old ones he asked if we wanted them because we'd had ours for seven years since I've been in the house and the previous tenant had bought them. We have no idea how old ours were but they didn't have much support underneath and as all the cushions are attached, there was no way to add more support.
I mentioned to the landlord while he was here about the trees at the back of the garden and how our neighbour had said they were going to be as big as the trees behind all our houses. I've been saying for the last few years how I wanted these trees gone as they were already massive and were only going to get bigger. I could tell they looked like the ones behind our houses but no one listened to me ...
The landlord went and got his chainsaw and the trees are now all gone! *celebratory dance* Although those trees were often featured in photos on my Instagram I'm very glad that they're no longer there. The garden looks so much lighter now! It's not really much of a garden though, more of a yard as its mainly paved. I would love some plants in it but I'm also not wanting to plant anything permanent because I'm only renting, even though I have been here for seven years now, the longest I have lived anywhere in the last twenty years!
So that leads us to today, Sunday. I am having to work today as a favour to the manager who a few weeks ago realised he'd forgot to give himself today off as he'd made plans with some of his friends to do something. I would have preferred a recharge Sunday to ready me for the week ahead as I usually do, I sometimes have a recharge Saturday if I'm working a Sunday, but I forgot to do it yesterday. I'm off on Tuesday and have no plans so I can have a recharge Tuesday instead.
