Blurt Self Careathon Day 8
Recharge
I’m an introvert, so my energy levels get depleted and need to be topped up. I recharge in many ways including; early nights (even sometimes at 8 pm!) Some days I get into my PJ’s as soon as I get in from work, I write in my journal, I take slow deep breaths, have quiet time where I don’t have the TV on or any music playing, or any DVDs on. I read books, I nap, I do yoga, I have sofa days where I watch TV or DVDs all day. I know this last one is against one thing I’ve already said, but it all depends on what I need that day. I sometimes lie in bed in the morning while reading and drinking a glass of water.
If anything I am a little too good at recharging my own batteries. It is a necessity for me though as I find my anxiety levels rising throughout the day at work from time to time when I’ve been around people for too long and not had time to myself.
If I overdo it and I end up getting run down I get cold sores and or a cold. So, that’s when I need to take a step or two back and not do a couple of the things I’d like to and instead; I have an early night, eat some of the foods I fancy and have a few lazy days until I feel a bit better or something of the above list. There are probably more things that do, but these are the ones that come to mind while writing this.
Self-care is all about listening to what you need mentally as well as physically and more importantly acting on it. It does take practice and it’s a constant ebb and flow of needs and wants that need listening to and doing.
