Blurt Self Careathon Day 22

Small Steps

Lots of small steps will get you to your destination. Often it's never a straight path, but it meanders this way and that, doubles back on itself, goes over hills and down valleys and even goes over the same ground, sometimes a few times ...

It's taken me eleven years to get to where I am today, from an empty shell of a person to a functioning human being. The small steps aren't often noticeable at the time but if you look back to where you were months ago, it's possible to see where you've come from. I know I've come a long way, but because it's small steps taken most days and often a few steps back from time to time, it feels like I'm not getting anywhere.

Every now and again I look back to see who and where I was, six months, twelve months ago etc to see how far I have come. It helps me to see that I'm doing the right things, making the right choices and doing what I can right now to better myself and my life.

Even though the path has been much longer and tougher than I thought it would be, I am grateful for all its winding rocky terrain as it's helped make me become who I am today. I am stronger than I ever thought I would be and I am the most confident I have ever been. You are right where you need to be. If you don't like where you are; ask what lesson do you need to learn from your situation, where would you like to be and what steps do you need to take and what changes do you need to make in order to get there?

Every journey starts with a single step. Don't regret not starting.

And don't forget to celebrate your milestones and accomplishments along the way.
