a rough drawing made absent-mindedly. "the text was interspersed with doodles"
It's been many years since I doodled. I used to doodle while I was talking on the phone with friends and we were making plans for the next night out, or while I was in class at school or college. They would be hatched lines or swirls, arrows, circles... I would doodle over the front and back cover of my school books as well as on the inside covers sometimes.
The above drawing took me about fifteen minutes but I was totally in the zone and oblivious to my surroundings, other than the arrowslit in the wall of the ruined castle in front of me. When I had finished the drawing, I turned round to see a handful of people behind me waiting to stand where I had been and to look through the arrow slot. I got very self-conscious then and didn't manage any more detailed drawings that day.
I'm still very proud of this drawing and I have a copy of it hanging in a frame on my bedroom wall.
